Wispr Flow alternatives and other dictation tools, compared with Deixis

• Typeless rewrites what you say in a hundred languages and runs on Linux too, with the recognition on its servers and a weekly cap on the free plan.
• Dragon Professional recognises speech on the PC and controls the whole of Windows by voice, with no price on its page. Deixis is dictation, not voice control, and free.
• Talon is hands-free control of the computer for people with limited use of their hands. If all you want is to dictate, Deixis needs no scripts and nothing to learn.
• Otter.ai is a meeting service whose notetaker joins your calls as a visible guest and uploads them. Deixis records both sides of a meeting on your own machine.
• Whisperstream is the closest tool to Deixis: local and with no account, but paid after a trial, and dictation only.
• Handy is free and open source, local and with no account, on Windows, the Mac and Linux, in far more languages. Deixis adds vocabulary packs, field-aware cleanup, grabs and screen recording on the same key, and meetings on Windows.
• OpenWhispr is open source too, and asks at setup whether to recognise in its cloud or on your computer. The Deixis app recognises on your machine every time and publishes every byte it sends.
