Where things land

There is no database and no library format. Everything Deixis makes is an ordinary file in one folder you can back up, search, or walk away from — settings and dictionary as TOML, notes as Markdown, grabs as re-editable PNG, history as JSONL. This page is the full list of paths and what each one holds.

Everything is a file you can read, in one folder you can back up.

`%USERPROFILE%\.deixis\dictionary.toml`	Vocabulary, fixes and filler words.
`%USERPROFILE%\.deixis\packs\`	Your own vocabulary packs, one `.toml` each.
`%USERPROFILE%\.deixis\notes\`	Hands-free and free-session notes as `<stamp>.md`; a session's images and `refs.json` sit in `notes\assets\<stamp>\`.
`%USERPROFILE%\.deixis\screenshots\`	Saved grabs, PNG plus a `.json` sidecar that keeps them re-editable.
`%USERPROFILE%\.deixis\recordings\`	Screen recordings as `<stamp>.mp4`, with the audio, the transcript (`.transcript.md` and `.transcript.jsonl`) and the title and summary (`.notes.json`) beside each one.
`%USERPROFILE%\.deixis\captures\`	Where both used to go, before they were split into the two folders above. Files already in here are left alone: the Library still lists them, and they still open, re-edit and share.
